After supplying Swiss Vans with a wide range of vehicles for their leasing and contract hire services, Greenhous VW based in Bilston agreed to lend the company an Amarok to put through its paces. Steve Yates, national fleet sales executive at Greenhous VW, said “I had been dealing with Swiss Vans for a number of years prior to my position here. Over the past 12 months, Greenhous have also built up a strong relationship with the company.
“We supply them with 6-10 Volkswagen vans a week and are planning to extend the brands we have available after the Groups recent acquisition of six new manufacturers including Nissan and Renault.”
Swiss Vans is based in Bridgend, South Wales and is one of the largest van suppliers in the EU. With a combined experience of over 20 years in car and van sales and strong manufacturer and vehicle supplier connections, the company has established itself as an experienced and reliable dealer.
Ian Hill, managing director at Swiss Vans Limited, “We took the Amarok with us to join up with ‘Lost World Adventures’ who provide guided overland expedition tours for 4x4 vehicles. We had a great experience alongside the other off-road vehicles, travelling through Spain to reach the Pyrenees for a five day adventure through the mountains.
“The Amarok out-performed all the other 4x4s in every aspect, being much faster and easier to drive. The only difficulty we encountered was with its size as it was much larger than the others and therefore slightly harder to manoeuvre over tricky terrain.
“Despite the issues with its size, the Amarok is incredibly easy to drive in general with its 180PS and 8 speed automatic gearbox. Hill descents were easy and with just the push of a button, the vehicle more or less drove itself downhill at a slow speed.”
Ian concluded “We have always had a positive experience dealing with Greenhous and over the past 12 months, have established a relationship that we hope to continue long into the future. Taking the Amarok to the Pyrenees was an amazing opportunity that wouldn’t have happened if Greenhous hadn’t lent us the vehicle to begin with.”
Steve continued “When Ian asked us if he could borrow the Amarok, we thought it would be a great opportunity to put the truck well and truly to the test. The vehicle is known for being one of the most robust and practical pick-ups on the market, but we wanted to see how it would perform in a more challenging environment. “We are thrilled with how well the Amarok handled the Pyrenees and that Ian was pleased with its performance. We were happy to supply him with the vehicle and hope that the relationship between both businesses continues to flourish.”
