A part of the everyday working environment at Greenhous Volkswagen, employees are expected to complete various training schedules ensuring an up to date knowledge of working practices, new models, new technological advances etc.

At Greenhous VW Commercials on Ennerdale Road in Shrewsbury, site operations manager, Francesca James, reports on the latest successes from her team. “I am delighted that we can promote the success of members of my team”, says Francesca. “All of our staff attend courses at the Volkswagen National Learning Centre which is based in Milton Keynes. For all staff there are e-Learning courses which can be completed at home as well as technical needs analysis and practical assessments at the National Learning Centre.

“Three of our technicians, Andrew Crowe, Mike Reece and Mark Carrington have been awarded their accreditation as service technicians by Volkswagen.  Their course included modules on Workshop Information Systems, Electrical Diagnosis, Diagnostic Equipment, Service and Maintenance Best Practice and Warranty Best Practice for the Workshop.  Acquiring these skills and maintaining the highest standards of work is essential here at Greenhous VW Commercials.”

Nigel Ridler has received his accreditation as a Master Technician.  This advanced level indicates his elevated level of expertise in the workshop.  Nigel had already passed courses on engine, gearbox and air conditioning diagnosis and repair and all of the expectations required of a qualified technician, but his Master Technician status was gained after achieving success on the expert courses, Specialist Diesel Engine Management and Specialist Transmission Diagnosis as well as product specific courses on the California, Amarok and Crafter models as well as a course on alternative fuels.

The first port of call for any customer to After Sales is the service advisor and Richard Haigh is also celebrating his accreditation as a VW Service Advisor. In his role he has developed the skills of delivering an excellent customer experience and an understanding of consumer law. Volkswagen service systems are bespoke to the brand and Richard has learned the essential skills of a service advisor, sharing best practice with his colleagues. Fundamental to his role is also an extensive knowledge of all of the brand products, especially as new models come on stream.

Not to be out done, Francesca herself has attended training courses which have led to her being accredited as a Head of Business for Volkswagen Commercials.  Based at the Shrewsbury branch, Francesca oversees the sales manager and after sales manager roles and responsibilities and she has the advanced knowledge required to lead  Greenhous VW Commercials business development.

Her extensive training prepared her for leading and motivating her team and improving performance. It also encompassed the areas of business and financial planning, recruitment, selection, interviewing skills and employment law.  Of equally vital importance is a knowledge of Volkswagen Commercial vehicles and their technology, consumer law and a resolve for the dealership to provide the best possible customer service.
