Head of Business, Simon Griffin, reflects on the changes at Greenhous VW Commercials: “The dealership has a wonderful location on the Black Country Route which links to the nearby M6. We are experiencing greater interest from across the West Midlands for our range of vehicles, especially the new Transporter T6, the Caddy 4 and the Amarok. With sales and after sales increasing we have recruited new staff which is great news for the region as we see an upturn in these difficult economic times.”
Jason Deeming has arrived as Sales Controller to co-ordinate the sales team, build business contacts and be responsible for buying new stock and pricing vehicles. Jason comes from Nuneaton where he lives with his partner and their two children. Jason started out as a graphic designer before taking on his dream of owning a garage. This he built up before moving into van sales at a dealership in Coventry. On moving to a midlands VW dealership he progressed through the management ranks gaining experience of all areas of the business.
Jason loves his new challenge saying: “I have come back into sales and have really enjoyed my early weeks here. We have a great team and a fantastic premium product that customers want to own. Our aim is to develop relationships with customers that will last.”
Joining Greenhous VW as Fleet Sales Executive is another experienced sales person in Mark Garratley. Mark comes originally from Solihull and is a family man, married of 30 years with three boys. He has had an interest in the motor industry from an early age, though he started his working life in an abattoir! Mark says that experience taught him a lot about himself. He moved into commercial motor factors, setting up his own commercial spares business and also working for, and providing spares for, an earth moving machinery business.
“Thirteen years ago I moved into fleet sales with a VW specialist. I like dealing with customers, building relationships based on trust and honesty. You get to know their needs and repeat business is so important to the Van Centre. The staff here have been great to me. There is a fantastic ethos at Greenhous with an interest shown in the staff by all, including by the owner.
Mark says of his role: “We are in the heart of the West Midlands and we are looking to expand our business outwards in all directions.”
However, it is not just good news for sales at Greenhous VW. In the after sales side expansion is also being implemented as Andrew Barrington, After Market Manager, explains: “We have taken on a new technician making a team of six plus an apprentice as business has been so busy. The company are also investing in another ramp to increase our capacity for more growth.”
The newest recruit is Robin Aspain from Great Barr. Robin served his apprenticeship with VW and has eight years of experience under his belt, including a qualification to undertake MOT’s. “I want to improve myself and there are good opportunities here for me to gain my Qualified Technician qualification, then by next year I want to be a Master Technician. Everyone has been friendly and welcoming even though I support Birmingham FC!” says Robin.
Andrew is Robin’s line manager and he is delighted with the impact Robin has made already in the service department commenting: “He has added something positive to the business with his enthusiasm and desire to work at the highest level. It is difficult to get good staff as there is a skills shortage so we are ‘extremely satisfied’ to welcome him to the team!”
