A new 6 tonne capacity NUSSBAUM two post lifting ramp has been installed in the service bay bringing the total number of workshop ramp bays to seven, with an additional MOT bay (for Class 4 and 7). Andrew explains: “In 2017 we will see the launch of the all new VW Crafter van which will have an increased gross vehicle weight of five and a half tonnes. This would exceed the carrying capacity of the existing ramps so we have invested in advance of the release; to be prepared.”
The ramp has double folding telescopic arms and can lift anything from a Smart car to a 5 and a half tonne Crafter. It is the versatility, low running cost, and minimal maintenance aspects of the German manufactured NUSSBAUM lift that has brought forward the decision to invest now. The VW Van Centre at Bilston has 6 technicians, four of whom are VOSA approved MOT testers.
In addition further investment in new laptops with VW Brand software for on board diagnosis has been made. This is a response to the continued growth in business that the aftersales team are witnessing as the VW Vans sales also continue to perform strongly. Andrew says of the laptops: “With the latest manufacturer’s software installed and regularly updated, improvements and developments in diagnostic analysis of all VW vehicles becomes much more efficient.”
